UPDATED 16TH MARCH 2021

NIGHT FISHING AND MATCHES

The Committee has consulted with the Angling Trust, concerning their 16th March announcement, and clarified that night fishing and matches are permitted from 29th March.

Bookings for night fishing at the Lido can now be made in the normal manner with Alan Phillips for fishing from Monday 29th March. Please adhere to the advice given in your membership handbook when making your booking.

What does remain in place is the requirement to observe social distancing 2m, and 15m to the next peg. All other Club rules concerning fishing in general, or night fishing in particular, will also be enforced. Anyone not complying with any of these will be asked to leave, any future night fishing bookings from them will not be taken and future membership may be called into question.

The other guidance still in place is the travel restriction which continues to be within the definition of “local” as indicated for “exercise”. It is the responsibility of each member to be aware of the restriction and decide whether their travel is local. The assumption has been that around 5 miles is an acceptable distance. You should be prepared to convince any police officer, that challenges you, that your travel is local or you may suffer a fine. The Club has no responsibility for any fines that any member may incur.

As a result of guidance given by the Angling Trust and following government statements Alcove Angling waters were re-opened on Wednesday 13th May 2020 with certain restrictions. These will be kept under review and consistent breaking of these rules may result in something more strict or even closure being applied. If we are all sensible then a further relaxation, within published guidelines, may be possible.

This is the guidance published by the Angling Trust.

  2. Angling has been defined as “exercise” under current restrictions which means that it is subject to a travel restriction of 5 miles.
  3. Anglers are encouraged to park in every other parking space where possible. Where parking spaces aren’t present, anglers are encouraged to leave suitable space (approx. 2m) in between cars.
  4. To fish a minimum 15m apart, in most cases fishing every other swim/peg. To only fish alone unless fishing with someone who resides at the same address.
  5. LOCK ALL GATES ON ENTRY OR EXIT.
  6. Competitions are currently not allowed during the lockdown that ends at the end of March 2021. To be reviewed subject to whatever follows.
